About Bantham Devon.
Bantham is located four miles west of Kingsbridge off the A379. There are a lot of narrow twisty roads to get to Bantham but its worth when you get there. The village is small with pretty thatched cottages but it's the beach that is the main attraction. Very popular with surfers, the beach at Bantham consists of an impressive stretch of fine sand backed by sand dunes and an abundance of rock pools. Situated in an area of great natural beauty, the beach forms a promontory into the Avon estuary and has magnificent far reaching view. The waves at Bantham are generally smaller than those on the north coast but they tend to be a 'respectable surfing wave', and are quite consistent. Facilities at Bantham are very basic, the nearest toilets and caf? are about half a mile away in the village. There is a large carpark which is manned at the entrance and a life guard in the summer season but so far Bantham has avoided the commercialisation that has overtaken many beaches. |
