About: Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers are separated by the river and at one time there was a thriving fishing industry. Today the river has a number of yachts and small boats which are, sailed almost exclusively for pleasure. There are only a handful of boatmen now earn their livelihood on the water and there is one small ferry to carry passengers in summer across the harbour
