About: Lydford Castle is one of two castles that have existed in Lydford what is left is still impressive and dominant even though it now has no roof. The other, older one, is now unfortunately totally destroyed above ground but its earth covered foundations and impressive defensive ditch are still clearly visible and climbable. These castles are sited on the two sides of St Petrock's Church, which is the centre of the village.
