About: The Parish Church of St Margaret is an imposing building it is among two hundred in England dedicated to St Margaret of Antioch in Syria. She was a semi-legendary saint who is reputed to have been beheaded for her faith. She refused to marry the local Roman governor in the 3rd century and her story in England dates from the 11th century when the soldiers returned from the Crusades.
